Monday, February 4th starting at 8:30 am

The House State Government, Elections & Indian Affairs Committee will hold the first hearing of HB 141, a bill that creates a clear and strong confidentiality policy that keeps New Mexicans’ personal sensitive information private. The hearing will be in Room 305 at the Roundhouse.

At 1:30 pm: The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (DWS) presents its proposed budget to the House Appropriations & Finance Committee in Room 307. In order for workers across the state to get a fair shot at recouping their stolen wages, DWS needs more resources.

Tuesday, Feb 5th –  Acequia Day at the Roundhouse!

Acequia parciantes and supporters, join us on Tuesday, February 5th for Acequia Day 2019 at the New Mexico State Capitol! We will gather at 9:00am at the State Land Office (310 Old Santa Fe Trail) State Land Commissioner Stephanie Garcia Richards will give us a welcome. NMAA) will provide some light breakfast snacks. Then we will march with our palas to the Capitol at 9:45 am. Between 10 am and 11 am, acequias will take time to track down their legislators and inform them about NMAA legislative priorities and about the need to fund local acequia projects. A small group of acequia officials will be introduced in the House and Senate opening sessions at 11am. Everyone else is asked to be in the Gallery. At noon, we will start our celebration in the Rotunda. We will wrap up at 2 pm and provide a light lunch.

Thursday, Feb. 7th. The Trapping Bill is scheduled for committee

All animal lovers, the bill to ban traps and poisons on public lands is set to be heard in the House Energy, Environment & Natural Resources Committee this Thursday, Feb 7. The bill must pass this committee in order to progress.
The hearing will be in Room 317 at the Roundhouse. The bill is  HB 366 the Wildlife Protection & Public Safety Act 
Opponents will try and pack the small hearing room. so plan to arrive at 7:00 for the 8:00 hearing. Just showing up is important, but so may also testify briefly – just a sentence or two. Don’t let a trapper get your seat!
If your representative serves on the House Energy, Environment & Natural Resources Committee also please give them a call or send an email asking for their support of HB 366.
